30-share BSE Sensex gained 84.99 points to start trading on 33,034.20 and 50-share NSE Nifty opened on 10,198.45, up by 31.75 points. In early trading, both indices were gaining more than half a per cent.
On Thursday, the Street shook off bearish sentiments to start regaining from the slump that saw Sensex losing 1,200 points in a week's trade. Friday's rally has so far been structurally similar to that of Thursday's with the metal and PSU bank stocks gaining the most.
Tata Motors, Wipro, Maruti and Adani Ports were the major gainers early on while NTPC, Infratel and Ambuja Cement were losing the most.
