30-share BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 200 points on 33,450.31 while the broader 50-share NSE Nifty opened on 10,310.50, up by 44.85 points. After a brief erosion in gains, Sensex regained opening mark.
About 1,437 shares advanced against 572 declining shares on the BSE.
In early trade, all sectoral indices were in the green; PSU bank sub-index leading the way gaining more than a per cent. ITC, Lupin and Bharti Airtel were the major gainers while Hindustan Unilever, IndiaBulls and Bajaj Auto were the major losers.
