30-share BSE Sensex opened with a jump of 61.65 points on 33,114.69 and the broader 50-share NSE Nifty gained 36.35 points to start trading on 10,229.30. However, by 9.50 am, both the indices had slipped into the red.
Markets have faced another spell of selling pressure in the last two sessions with Sensex losing around 500 points and reaffirming 33,000-mark as the pivot around which the stock market has been volatile in the last couple of months.
On Thursday, none of the sectoral sub-indices broke through in early trade and stayed fairly rangebound. Dr. Reddy, Mahindra & Mahindra, Infosys and Tech Mahindra were the major gainers while TCS, GAIL and Hindustan Unilever were losing the most.
