India does not have a dearth of talent, which is why one sees innovation happening across the country. Hailing from Kagla Bambori village of Baran district in Rajasthan, 19-year-old Yogesh Nagar has developed a driverless tractor that has left one and all surprised.
When asked the reason behind designing this tractor, Yogesh said that his father is the biggest motivation behind it. His father Rambabu Nagar was working on 15 bigha of land to fend for the family. As part of his work, his father had to drive a tractor regularly which began giving him severe backache.
Because of the backache, Yogesh’s father was not able to drive a tractor and work on his farmland properly. This inspired Yogesh to develop a tractor which could be operated with the help of a satellite remote.
Once Yogesh realised his innovation is moving in the right direction, he collected Rs 50,000 from his father and friends to design a remote. He soon developed a tractor that does not require a driver to be operated, and can be driven just with the help of a remote. Now, the other farmers at his village are fascinated and want a remote for their tractors too.
Yogesh is currently pursuing BSc, and is in his first year of graduation. The innovation developed by him does require an operator, but he does not need to sit on the tractor to operate it. It can be operated from outside the farmland as well.
To build this robotic tractor, Yogesh installed two signals on the tractor that are further connected to the remote. While a few of the materials required to build this design was bought from the market, there were a few he had to develop himself. Yogesh spent nearly Rs 47,000 to build this innovation.
The remote covers an area of one to one-and-half kilometres, and Yogesh had to develop an auto panel for the tractor to receive signals from remote. He took nearly three to four months to complete this project.
Yogesh wants to reach the Make In India initiative by the Indian government, and get an approval to further develop his innovation. His dream is to make it into the Indian Army one day.
